Father's Day Gift Ideas for Different Kinds of Dads

Dad, Daddy, Dada, Pop, Papi, Poppa, Father, Faja....whatever you call him, he's the man that you first loved, the man who holds your heart, your hero.  Father's Day is coming up on June 16 and it's time to celebrate him alone.  

Men are so hard to buy for.  Let's face it, women are pretty explicit about what they want.  I drop hints all year long hoping that my husband (or anyone else) is listening.  I also create Amazon wish lists and Pinterest boards based on what my heart desires for any special occasion.  The men in my life are not quite the same.  

Today I decided to tie down "The Exhausted Dad" and ask him what he would like for Father's Day.  Even though he made me swear not to buy him anything, at least I have ideas for other occasions.  SCORE! 


My husband is so many different kinds of man all wrapped into one...so here are some ideas for different kinds of men for Father's Day.



The Fisherman:

Columbia shirts  These light and airy shirts are perfect on or off the water.  They are made of quick drying fabric in case they get wet on the water.
 
Shimano rod & reel combo  Yeah, I'm not even going to pretend I know anything about that.





The Athlete:


Asics running shoes  Asics are light and comfortable and have a lot of room in the toe area.  They also have great shock absorption.

Tickets to a baseball game  It's baseball season, so why not take your man or dad to watch their favorite team live.  I mean, who doesn't love an ice cold beer and a dog? 

Taylor Made R1 Driver  Wow.  You can actually tune this club in three different keys to customize to your swing.  Cool.  




 
The Techy:

LG Sound Bar Audio System & Subwoofer  This awesome gadget has bluetooth and a sound that can't be beat.  It's like being in a club. 



The Grill Master:

The Big Green Egg  This is a grill and smoker all rolled in one.  The ceramic shells provides even cooking.  They come in all sizes. 

Cuisinart Electric Knife  The hubs wants this to cut all those yummy meats that he grills up...you know, ribs, roast beef, chicken.  



The Outdoorsman:
 
Coleman NXT 300 Portable Grill  This little grill is perfect for camping trips and tailgating.  It also folds up for easy storage.



Mr. Fix-It:

Dewalt Drill Set  These drills are lightweight and cordless for all your "fixing" needs.







Obviously, he did not stick to any sort of budget, but it is his "wish" list.  Hope this helps you find the perfect gift for the type of guy you are buying for.

Curiosityville Sitrs Up Curiosity

Do your kids like playing games online?  Mine do.  I try to be cautious about the types of games they are playing.  I would really like them all to be educational, but sometimes the educational ones just aren't that interesting for the kids.

In each character's room, there are many different activities and games for your child to explore.  "The Nag" really loved Rosie because he wants to be a scientist when he grows up.  His favorite game was Space Mission in Jack's room.  He was able to shoot astroids and comets all while listening to facts about space and practicing math facts.

As your child maneuvers through the site, apples are given for completed activities.  After a number of apples are accumulated, a badge is awarded.  The badges are stored on a special page. 

 
Want to know a cool part?  The Learning Tree page actually maps out your child's learning as they move through the site.  Parents can view various charts to see their child's strengths and where they need more practice.  You also get a personalized email detailing your child's progress.  Did I mention there are timer settings so your child doesn't stay online too long?  COOL!

 

I highly recommend Curiosityville to all families with kids ages 3-8.  It's such a great way to incorporate learning, creativity and technology!  Not to mention that the content is updated weekly, so your child will have something to keep their brains working throughout the summer!

The Honda Pilot ~ My Dream Car

Ok, so it's no secret that I am SOOOOO over my minivan.  
I mean, come on, I only have 2 kids and I'm not having any more (at least not planning to).  Do I really need a minivan?  

I do like having 3 rows.  I do love the trunk space.  I do love the comfort.  I'm just not in love with my minivan.

I recently had the chance to drive the Honda Pilot.  Wowza!  I'm in love....with a car.....

Look how beautiful....and clean.  My minivan is never clean.

The Pilot was awarded the 2012 Top Safety Pick by The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.  That speaks VERY highly with parents.  It is outfitted with side and curtain airbags, 3-point seat belts, anti-lock brakes, and LATCH on each rear seat (even the third row!).

This 4-wheel drive SUV seats up to 8 comfortably.  We were able to fit two booster seats and an adult in the backseat with no problem at all.  (No more making a third adult sit in the 3rd row...it's so hard to hear back there!)  Not to mention it has tremendous cargo space for storage.  Under the trunk is another storage compartment, great for keeping items out of sight.  With the third row down, the Pilot has the space of a small pick-up truck. 

The Pilot has fun technology too!  I mean, come on, it says "Welcome" when you get in the car...does your car do that?  The Bluetooth HandsFree Link and navigation system with voice recognition makes me feel like I'm in "KITT" from "Knight Rider." 
My kids loved the DVD rear entertainment system with removable remote.  I loved the wireless headphones!  

So many nifty techy gadgets...

Storage is a MUST with kids!

And of course, all the "Mommy touches."

The Honda Pilot is perfect for families, large and small, with busy lives who want the comfort and safety of a midsize SUV.  

How do I convince my husband that we need to head to Honda right now?

Damn technology!

UGH! I have been without an Internet connection for two whole days...two whole days! I feel as if I have been disconnected from the world. I mean I do live in a largely populated, rather well-known city (Miami), I do still have my cell phone with 3G connection, my car, and a TV. Yet somehow I feel as if I'm stuck in Amish country! Why is this? Why am I so obsessed with my computer?

It's like all of a sudden, since I don't have access to the web, there are all these REALLY important jobs I need to do and they all revolve around the Internet! How will I shop for school supplies if I can't download the school lists? How can I research my new car if I can't go to the site? How can I pay my bills since I do it all on...you guessed it...the Internet?

You would think that I grew up with all this glorious technology. I only received my first email account in college. I never had a cell phone until after I got my first job. So what did I do before technology? It seems like such a distant life!

I guess I will just have to go clean the house and play with my kids...
Nah...I still have my phone!
