Spice Up Your Cinco De Mayo

I love getting together with friends!  Whether it’s to celebrate someone’s birthday or just the end of the week, my little circle of friends and I try to get together often.

Cinco De Mayo is quickly approaching, and it’s the PERFECT reason for everyone to get together. Even if you’re not Mexican, you can whip up a Mexican themed party (or even just a dinner for your family) in no time!

Here are some ideas to “spice up” your Cinco De Mayo:

1. Mexican themed decorations
There is no need to rush to the party store and spend loads of cash on decorations that will only get thrown away. You can head to your local Dollar Store and purchase any brightly colored plastic tablecloths and coordinating paper products. While there, you may find a piñata that could also be used as a decoration. If you do want to go all out, sombreros, cactuses, Mexican flags, maracas are great ways to symbolize this festive occasion.

2. Tissue paper flowers
Another inexpensive and fun decoration is tissue paper flowers. These can be made with multicolored tissue paper and pipe cleaners. They are so easy to make, your kids can even help! Check out Kaboose for an easy step-by-step tutorial on how to make these.

3. Margaritas & Corona-Ritas
What party would be complete without a cocktail? A Margarita is a must at any Mexican fiesta, but have you tried the Corona-Rita? It’s a twist on the old favorite, and it’s SO refreshing!

4. Mexican Food
And the food…aaaahhh! I absolutely adore Mexican food! From tacos to burritos, salsa to guacamole, there isn’t anything that I do not like about Mexican food! And what comes to mind most is the CHEESE!

Farm Rich Queso Cheese Bites are a solid choice to spice up your Cinco De Mayo since they are not too hot, not too cool, but just right! These little guys are creamy white, queso-filled, breaded, bite-sized happiness that pack just the right amount of heat to perfectly spice up your fiesta (or any occasion).

So easy to make, they come out of the oven or fryer in just minutes, with a crisp and toasty outside and meltingly tender inside.  Farm Rich Queso Cheese Bites are ready to serve for an after-school snack, party appetizer, or just anytime hunger calls. The wholesome snacks also are a good source of calcium, and each portion contains just 180 calories and 0 grams trans fat per serving…how can you say no?

Don’t forget to play Pesos 4 Quesos for a chance to win a $3,500 “Fiesta Grande” from Farm Rich. 1. I love Mexican food. I remember when we first moved here from Germany and tried it for the first time... the tastes were so different from what we were used to. Now I can whip up some guacamole with the best of them. :)Not so sure on the Corona-Rita... I'm not a big fan of Margaritas or Corona.
